"Sex, love and food." These are the three things that you should never, ever give up in life. Meryl Streep tells us, the undisputed protagonist of this fourth edition of the Rome International Film Festival, and Nora Ephron tells us with his film "Julie & Julia", presented out of competition between previews.
The stories of two women, providentially with the same name, are embellished with different planes of time to tell us about their need to be made and their pursuit of happiness.
While Julia Child started his adventure in Paris after World War II, where she moved with her husband Paul, used the U.S. secret services, Julie Powell works in an organization formed after Sept. 11 to help people affected by the terrorist attack. Both are in the food stimulus and a reason to change their lives.
fact, if Julia is the first woman who managed to enter the exclusive cooking school "Cordon Bleu" and that makes it available to the American art of French cuisine with the famous book "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" (in collaboration with Simone Beck and Louisette Bertholle) and then with the television program "The French Chef", Julie decides to start writing a blog on the internet to witness the original challenge which is with itself: to prepare to perfection the 524 recipes in Julia Child's book 365 days.
To support the two women in their companies are their two husbands, Paul Child and Eric Powell, who with much patience and much love, learn to accept and comply with the 'obsession' for the food of her companions, also by tasters officers, and their desire to be involved in something.
It 's impossible not to recognize in its interpretation of the Child, the skill of Streep, who takes possession of the character with an impressive safety but did not finish in the imitation and caricature. It instead gives an overview personal and fun but not overshadowing or the young Amy Adams, or the excellent husband Stanley Tucci film.
A comedy from fresh ingredients and assayed milligram, which can make you laugh and move and above all to remember that life is made up of small pleasures and sweet delights.

The hilarious prologue in which Podalydès tells a funny story but its unfortunate Cannes suggests "if good morning starts in the morning." It was the morning.
Bancs Publics is the best movie seen so far at the festival, ironic, touching, delicate, not boring in its full two hours and given a huge amount of players (about 86, including Catherine Deneuve and Chiara Mastroianni) worthy of Ben Hur that are intertwined in a tangle of stories of everyday life. Drama
departure: on the fourth floor of a palace of Versailles someone hung a banner written in ominous black to white, "Men Only".
From there, the film proceeds by splitting into three parts, the first of which takes place in the building opposite, in an office where Lucie (Florence Muller) and his colleagues "lazy" (as some would say in Italy) and realize it kick off a series of assumptions about who might be, what it means and why.
The survey involves all in a short time, from the bottom to the top of the company in a succession of events. In
lunch break, the focus shifts to a nearby park in the square, the atmosphere here is more delicate, poetic and new characters are inserted alongside the others.
Between games of children, sad memories, love and disappointed looks enchanted (the wonderful part of the two teenagers set the whole time without saying a word), the park is alive with secrets, illusions, hopes and under the gaze of a young homeless man who is almost as landlord.
Finally, it triggers the theater of the absurd, the intersection of weird and funny situations has, in fact, reach its peak in the corner hardware store (the same Podalydes it is the owner in the film), where employees and customers unlikely create all kinds of exciting moments of hilarity, until the explosive climax that takes us to the final.
Bancs Publics, the third episode of the trilogy Railway station of Podalydès, can be considered one of the pearls of this fourth edition, rockin 'till the end in a carousel of events and characters, as in the credits that run in a circle on the views from the park where you keep secrets and emotions.

The screening was preceded, interspersed and concluded by loud applause and laughter convinced of satisfaction; even if you are not lovers of the "modern" Italian comedy (the thought of an approach to the real one may shudder, but this is it!), is still happy to think that sometimes not only cinepanettoni and related targati Boldi -De Sica in "fun" with sleazy characters, often of sexual topic.
Let there be frightened by the fact that the writers, in fact, are the same as those Christmas movies of which there is fortunately only a veiled reference, not a film to sketch, not a film that brings square of the comedians as doth the fame of their jokes and attract television audiences in the hall attached.
"Just Married" has an exceptional cast, particularly heterogeneous, we pass from Dario Bandiera (successful duo with Ragonese) Michele Placido (sometimes exceptional), and flanked by Lunetta Savino Francesco Pannofino in the guise of a family of Puglia more rustic.
The characters follow a path that leads them to join relentlessly throughout the film: four pairs totally different from each other, distant in many ways, but linked by a common thread, the wedding day.

From 6 to 25 October 2009 comes at the Teatro di Roma Two MASKED - Ties of Blood, the show written by Israeli Ilan Hazor and directed by Madeleine Fallucca that were excited and enthusiastic audiences and critics at the first Arab-Hebrew Theater of Jaffa, Tel Aviv, and then to New York.

From 6 to 25 October 2009 comes at the Teatro di Roma Two MASKED - Ties of Blood, the show written by Israeli Ilan Hazor and directed by Madeleine Fallucca that were excited and enthusiastic audiences and critics at the first Arab-Hebrew Theater of Jaffa, Tel Aviv, and then to New York.
After the success of the first National Theatre of the clock, back to the scene and moving story of refined Da'ud, Na'im and Halled, three Palestinian brothers who have chosen different paths for their lives: the largest ago the dishwasher in Tel Aviv and is accused of being a spy in the service of Israel, the latter has chosen the path of terrorism and escaped into the mountains to join a group called "The Tigers of the Revolution" and the youngest, still uncertain, is emotionally torn by the affection that test for both.
